Antti Oksanen is Professor and Head of Production Animal and Wildlife Health Research Unit of the Research and Laboratory Department of Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, responsible for the diagnostics and research on production animal and wildlife health and diseases, including semi-domesticated and wild reindeer (Rangifer tarandus spp.). He is on leave January 1st, 2012 – December 31st, 2014 due to a research professorship on veterinary parasitology.
Oksanen wrote his PhD thesis 1999 about endectocidic antiparasitic treatment of the reindeer and most of his reindeer-related (and other) scientific works are on parasitology. Educated in Finland, Oksanen worked for 7 years in Tromsø, Norway, during the 1990s.He has been a deputy delegate of the Nordic Council of Reindeer Husbandry Research.
